MRCOOL sells inverter equipment to homeowners and contractors alike, which means the unit on your wall may have been installed by a professional or by a Saturday afternoon. Either way, here is how it behaves in the Valley and what to do when it stops.
Schedule today — we’re here 24/7.

Independent service. Bleuwave HVAC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorized dealer of MRCOOL. MRCOOL and related product names are trademarks of their owners. We service and replace this equipment as an independent contractor.
MRCOOL made its name on a simple bet: that a capable homeowner, given the right kit, would rather hang a mini split than pay someone else to. The company is an independent brand. Its ownership structure and founding history are research pending, and we would rather leave a blank than fill it with a guess. What is not in question is the footprint. Across the Phoenix metro, MRCOOL units hang in garages, casitas, home offices and back bedrooms, put there by contractors, by handy owners and by the occasional brother-in-law.
One thing first. Bleuwave HVAC is an independent service company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or an authorized dealer of MRCOOL, and we make no claim to factory training or manufacturer certification. MRCOOL and its product names are trademarks of their owners. We service the equipment because it is in your house, not because anyone sent us.
Four families cover most of what we see. The DIY line is the one marketed for homeowner installation and the one most people mean when they say the brand name. Advantage and Olympus are ductless families more often installed by contractors. Universal is the outlier: an inverter central system that connects to ductwork rather than a wall cassette, and it turns up as a replacement for a conventional split system in attic and closet air handlers.
Where they land tells you what they were bought for. A single wall unit in a garage that doubles as a gym. A casita that never got its own duct run. A west-facing home office the central system could not hold below 80 by three in the afternoon. The ductless format solves a room, and MRCOOL sells the solution over the counter. Any capacity, efficiency or model-level detail beyond these family names is research pending.
Most of what goes wrong with a MRCOOL system in Phoenix went wrong on installation day; it just took a summer to show up. An inverter mini split is a precise machine. It wants a level mount, a clean flare, a line set routed without kinks, a condensate drain with real slope and an outdoor unit that can breathe. Skip one of those and the 112-degree afternoons will find it.
The patterns we see most:
Before you call, a few things are worth checking: the remote is actually in cool mode and not fan or dry, the filter screens are clean, the breaker is on (reset it once, and only once), the outdoor unit is clear of debris, and there is no visible ice on the indoor coil. If there is ice, shut the system off and let it thaw. Do not open the unit, do not touch the line set, and do not go on the roof if the outdoor unit lives there. Everything past that list is our job.
The math on a MRCOOL repair runs differently than on a premium-brand split system, and it pays to be honest about why. The equipment cost less going in. That is the whole appeal. It also means a major repair, an inverter board or a compressor, can approach what a new unit costs. Whether that repair makes sense depends on age, install quality and what the rest of the system looks like, and no web page can settle that for you. Our repair-vs-replace guide lays out the framework, and the honest-math field note walks through a decision the way we would at your kitchen table.
Sometimes the answer is to spend nothing. A DIY unit that is short-cycling because it was oversized for a 200-square-foot office may need a setpoint change and a conversation, not a part. We will tell you when a repair is not worth it, and we will also tell you when it is.
Warranty terms belong to the manufacturer, and they are the manufacturer's to interpret. Registration deadlines, proof of purchase and installation requirements may all apply; some lines may require professional installation for coverage to hold. Read your paperwork before assuming anything. We do not process manufacturer warranty claims and we do not represent the brand.
Parts are the practical limitation. MRCOOL components are not typically stocked at the local supply houses our trucks visit, so a board, a fan motor or a sensor may need to be ordered directly, and lead times are what they are. We quote the diagnosis flat-rate before any work begins, and we will tell you plainly if a part cannot be sourced in a reasonable time. A DIY-installed system we did not put in is still a system we will service; we simply document what we find.
The best money most owners spend is on a seasonal maintenance visit that catches a slow leak or a clogged drain before July, and on a proper estimate if the unit has reached the end. Financing on approved credit is available for replacement. The final call on any of it, sizing, diagnosis or scope, requires someone standing in the room.
Straight answers, no runaround. Don’t see yours? Our team is a phone call away, around the clock.
Yes. We diagnose and repair the equipment as we find it, and we document its condition and any installation issues in the report. Whether a self-install affected your manufacturer warranty is a question for the manufacturer's written terms, not for us.
Ask us before you buy, not after the pallet arrives. Whether we install owner-supplied equipment depends on the product and the application, and we would rather have that conversation on an estimate visit. We will also say plainly if a different approach suits the space better.
Codes vary by family, and the manual that came with the unit is the first reference. A code points to a category, such as a communication or sensor fault; it does not tell you which part to replace. Note the code, shut the unit off if it is icing or dripping, and have it diagnosed.
It is an inverter ducted system, so it connects to existing ductwork the way a conventional split system does. Whether it fits your home depends on the cooling load, the condition of the ducts and the electrical service. Our central AC replacement page covers what that evaluation involves.
Ice on the indoor coil almost always means restricted airflow or low refrigerant charge, and a garage adds dust and heat to both. Shut it off, let it thaw, clean the filter screens and see if it returns. If it does, the frozen coil field note explains what a technician looks for next.
Longer than parts for distributor-sold brands, because they are not on local shelves. We identify the part from the nameplate, check availability and give you the expected lead time before anything is ordered. If the wait is unreasonable, we say so and talk about alternatives.
It needs airflow more than shade. A condenser boxed in by a gate, a wall or a shrub recirculates its own hot exhaust, which does more harm than afternoon sun. Keep clearance on all sides and rinse haboob dust off the coil fins gently with a hose when the unit is off.
