Sagging, kinked or torn flex duct kills airflow in Arizona attics. We replace failed runs with R-8 flex, supported every 4 feet, with wide turns and no compression.
Schedule today — we’re here 24/7.

Flex duct is not a bad product. It is a product that fails fast when it is installed carelessly and then baked at 155 degrees for twenty summers. Arizona attics are the hardest environment flex duct will ever see, and the failure modes are predictable: the outer jacket goes brittle and cracks under UV that leaks through vents and gable ends, the inner liner tears loose from the wire helix, the fiberglass between them settles and thins until an R-4.2 run is delivering closer to R-2, and long unsupported spans sag into deep bellies that trap dust and choke flow. A single sharp kink where a run crosses a truss can cut delivered air to that room by half. Nobody sees it, because it is above the drywall.
Flex replacement is not always the answer. If the liner is intact and the run is only losing air at the collar, targeted duct repair handles it for far less. If the insulation is the only weak point on otherwise sound runs, added duct insulation may be the better spend. And if every run in the house is at end of life along with an aging trunk, you are looking at full duct replacement rather than piecemeal flex work. We will tell you which category you are in and price it flat before we touch anything.

Well-installed R-8 flex commonly runs 15 to 20 years here. Poorly supported flex sitting on an attic floor in direct sun exposure can be visibly failing in 10. Heat and UV are what kill it, and Arizona supplies both in quantity.
For main trunk lines, yes, and that is where we use it. For branch runs, properly installed R-8 flex is quieter, seals more easily at the collar, and performs well as long as it is strapped, straight and uncompressed. The install quality matters more than the material. See duct design and redesign for how we decide.
Often, yes. If the rest of the system tests healthy, replacing two or three failed runs is a legitimate targeted fix. Sometimes the hot room is a distribution problem instead, and air balancing or hot and cold room solutions solve it without replacing anything.
