Much of the Tempstar equipment we see in the Valley arrived as a replacement rather than with the house. That history shapes what we find when we open the cabinet.
Schedule today — we’re here 24/7.

Independent service. Bleuwave HVAC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorized dealer of Tempstar. Tempstar and related product names are trademarks of their owners. We service and replace this equipment as an independent contractor.
In our experience, Tempstar is the ICP label that tends not to come with the house. Much of what we service arrived the second time around: a replacement sold by a contractor in the 2000s or 2010s, chosen because the distributor stocked it, priced it well and could deliver a matched system on a Tuesday. That makes Tempstar less a builder brand than a contractor's brand, and it means the quality of what you own depends unusually heavily on who installed it.
The label belongs to International Comfort Products, which belongs to Carrier. Its siblings are Heil, Comfortmaker and Day and Night, and the four share engineering platforms, control systems and most of their parts. A technician who knows Heil knows Tempstar. The differences are in the badge, the trim and the distribution.
Bleuwave HVAC is an independent service company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or an authorized dealer of Tempstar, ICP or Carrier. Trademarks belong to their owners. What follows is a working technician's view of the equipment, not a product page.
Four split-system families carry the Tempstar name: Ion, Deluxe, QuietComfort and Performance. Ion is the communicating, variable-capacity tier. Deluxe and QuietComfort occupy the middle with staged equipment. Performance is the conventional single-stage line that many replacement jobs specified because it fit the budget and the existing ducts. Each family covers air conditioners, heat pumps and gas furnaces. In the Valley the furnace is usually in the attic, which means a Tempstar furnace spends its summers in a 155-degree room doing nothing but holding the blower that moves your cold air.
The rooftop line is the PGD gas-electric package and the PHD heat-pump package, with related ICP packaged families. Replacement contractors like packaged units because a crane and a morning swap the whole system without touching the attic. That convenience is real. It is also why a surprising number of rooftop swaps happened without anyone looking at the ducts underneath.
Model numbers, capacities and efficiency ratings for any of these: research pending. We publish what the equipment record confirms and nothing further. Sizing is done on site, from a load calculation, never from a page.
Because so much Tempstar equipment arrived as a replacement, the failures we see sort into two piles: equipment failures, and installation failures wearing an equipment costume.
The distinction matters because a system that ices its coil every July may have a refrigerant leak, or may have a return that was too small on the day it was installed. Fixing the wrong one is how homeowners spend twice. If your system freezes, shut it off at the thermostat, let it thaw, and do not open the cabinet. The homeowner checklist ends at the thermostat, the filter, one breaker reset, visible ice and debris around the outdoor unit.
For gas furnaces, most Tempstar heating calls in the Valley involve ignition, flame sensors and inducer motors rather than heat exchangers, because our furnaces run a few hundred hours a year instead of a few thousand. That does not excuse skipping the heating inspection, which is when a cracked exchanger gets found. The gas furnace page covers what we check and why.
Tempstar equipment from the replacement boom is now reaching the age where the decision gets serious. A twelve-to-fifteen-year-old single-stage rooftop package with a coil leak and a compressor that has spent every one of those summers in the sun: repair is possible, and often a poor use of money. A seven-year-old Deluxe heat pump with a failed board is worth fixing without much debate.
What tips it is rarely the label. It is whether the original install was right. If the ducts under a rooftop unit were never sized for it, replacing the unit alone repeats the mistake with a fresh warranty attached. A proper replacement scope includes airflow testing and duct correction, which is why our rooftop replacement guide spends as much time below the roofline as on it. Read the repair-vs-replace guide first, then request an estimate that spells out scope before anyone talks numbers. Financing on approved credit is available for replacements.
Parts for current Tempstar families are shared with the other ICP labels and, in many cases, stocked at the same Phoenix supply houses. That is a genuine advantage over orphan brands. Ion communicating components are more specialized and may take a day or two. Older families vary; we confirm availability before we promise a repair date.
Manufacturer warranties generally cover parts for a set term, subject to registration and sometimes to who installed the unit. Because a fair amount of Tempstar equipment was installed by contractors who have since closed, changed names or moved on, it is worth locating your original invoice and registration before the visit. We will read the data plate and the paperwork together and tell you what is likely covered, without guessing.
And the boring truth that outlasts every brand: equipment maintained twice a year, with coils cleaned before summer and the drain cleared before monsoon, outlives equipment that is not. Heating maintenance and AC maintenance are separate visits for a reason; the furnace inspection is where the safety findings live.

Tempstar is a residential label of International Comfort Products, a Carrier-owned group that also markets Heil, Comfortmaker and Day and Night. The labels share engineering platforms and most parts. Bleuwave services all of them as an independent company with no dealer relationship.
It is mainstream ICP equipment, neither exotic nor bargain-bin, and we do not rank brands because the ranking would mislead you. In the Valley the installation decides more than the badge: sizing, duct connection, refrigerant charge and drain routing. A well-installed Tempstar outlasts a badly installed anything.
For service, no; we work on it regardless of who installed it. For warranty, possibly, because coverage terms are tied to registration and installation records. Find your original invoice if you can, and we will read it alongside the data plate to sort out what is likely covered.
Deluxe is one of the mid-tier Tempstar families, sitting between the conventional Performance line and the communicating Ion line, with staged equipment. Specifics for individual models within the family are research pending; the data plate tells us exactly what you own.
You cannot from a web page, and neither can we. A load calculation, an airflow test and a refrigerant check on site separate a sick unit from a mismatched one. Our whole-home comfort assessment is built for exactly that question.
Confirm the thermostat is in heat mode and set above room temperature, check the filter, and reset a tripped breaker once. Stop there. Gas valves, igniters, flame sensors and anything behind the furnace panel are technician work, and we run emergency heating repair around the clock.
Usually a roof stays a roof, because converting to a split system means new refrigerant lines, a new indoor location and often duct changes. But the decision belongs to an on-site evaluation that looks at the curb, the ducts and the electrical, not to a default. We will show you both options when both make sense.
